Developing a Private Label Strategy
Overview
Big Lots, Inc. is a Fortune 500 company and one of the country’s largest and most successful closeout retailers. It currently operates more than 1,400 stores in 47 states. With 139 private-label brands, Big Lots needed to simplify its offering to build brand loyalty, simplify the shopping experience, and de-clutter inventory. Ologie’s strategy team narrowed this set of brands to 25, and the creative team developed inventive packaging designs for each. These designs were informed by extensive research on each brand’s target audience. Products included cookware, furniture, gardening tools, electronics, vitamins, linens, and decor items. The end result is a cohesive store presence filled with thoughtful brands that keep customers coming back.
